Wooden Planes
A huge, wide selection of old wooden planes and wooden moulding planes in a variety of different profiles and designs ranging from wooden bench planes such as smoothing planes, jack planes and fore planes through to moulding planes with profiles such as ogee, ovolo and beads.
Wooden planes in some form have been common place in woodworking for centuries. During the 1700's and 1800's, millions of wooden planes were made to assist the woodworker, carpenter and cabinet maker with their job.
During the history of wooden planes they have evolved over time with different profiles / moulds / models appearing usually made in a range of sizes, as such woodworkers often ended up with 30 - 100+ wooden planes as part of their tool-kit, often housed in a large wooden chest(s).
The Old Tools Shop stocks a vast range of these old wooden planes, many of which include planes with profiles / designs which are hard to find today in anything other than the old wooden plane form. The wooden planes in stock are predominately British wooden planes with a few European wooden planes and very occasionally an American wooden plane.
Once you hold one of these old wooden planes you instantly feel a connection with the tactile piece of history which you realise have been held and used by woodworkers often for 100 - 250+ years, that can be hands in the Georgian era in the 1700's through to the 1800's, the Victorian era through the 1800's, hands through WWI and WWII and everything in between and beyond.
The vast majority of wooden planes are antique wooden planes, the main ones which tend to be slightly newer are some Marples wooden planes, Amir through to more modern generally European wooden planes such as ECE and JACK.
