Decorative vases made from World War artillery shells. Trench art was a name given to art made from military materials often by soldiers in the trenches, prisoners of war and by civilians far behind the front lines .
This pair of trench art shells beautifully depict the same flower on each which I am sure is a poppy, the skill and detail on both of these vases, stunning.
One of the shells base is marked: 'REMANIE, A RS 9.17'
The other is hard to make out, includes '75 DEC....05....'
Overall length: 340mm
Please note: rims not perfectly cylindrical, Please see photos for condition.
